Who we are

The Mighty Creatives is a charity that believes that access to play, creativity and culture is vital, significantly affecting how children and young people do at school, their health, their life chances.

We exist to provide this access for children and young people aged 0-25.

We know creative talent is everywhere. We also know that opportunities to be creative for young people are not. This excludes and marginalises both people and places and amplifies wider social inequalities. So our three core aims are:

  1. To provide children and young people with equitable access to an outstanding cultural education.
  2. To provide young people with equitable access to choices and pathways into creative employment.
  3. To develop the region’s cultural education sector and support the region’s economy to provide both.

To affect this change The Mighty Creatives secure and manage investment, promote and support quality practice, build partnerships & collaborations, promote and support collective impact, provide training and resources, manage programmes of community based projects.

Established in 2009, we have earned a strong reputation which has been recognised, among others, by Arts Council of England (ACE). We are one of its ten national ‘Bridge’ Organisations in the East Midlands. In June 2017, we were delighted to be successful in continuing that support from ACE until 2022, giving the charity an unprecedented five years financial stability.

By the end of 2016/17, The Mighty Creatives had worked to ensure:

  • that 243 schools were currently registered for Artsmark in the East Midlands - meaning over 95,000 pupils were benefiting from an improved arts and cultural provision;
  • Over 7,000 young people have developed their creativity, leadership and communication skills through successfully moderated Arts Awards, which translates as 194,250 hours of quality arts education provision;
  • trained 581 artists, educators and arts organisations to work in and with schools at over 59 professional development events;
  • 8 Cultural Education Partnerships had been established in the East Midlands - 5 of which are actively delivering projects;
  • 261 young people to deliver community based arts projects such as Act4Change;
  • 381 young people to deliver young people led arts festivals over the last 3 years.

We are The Mighty Creatives and this is what we do.
