Funded by The Mighty Creatives and facilitated by Lincolnshire Traveller Initiative and Paradigm Media, Young Travellers from Buckingham created an amazing exhibition and film as part of Act4Change, whilst also achieving their Arts Award.
It was a great visit to the YMCA Showroom in Lincoln to see a fantastic exhibition called 'We Are Travellers' by Lincolnshire Traveller Initiative. The exhibition aimed to educate people about Travellers and their way of life whilst showcasing their work towards Arts Award. The artwork included many McDonalds inspired pieces such as a giant burger and chips, as this was a favourite location for the Young Travellers to visit. As a centrepiece of the exhibition, the LTI mobile classroom was wrapped in parcel paper, inspired by the Artist Christo. The van was slowly wrapped by the Young People involved in Act4Change and very quickly unwrapped by them too!
A film was also produced to tell others about life as a traveller. It was filmed and produced by the Young People themselves with the support of Paradigm Arts. The Young Travellers were in charge of every stage and aspect of the film making procedure. They learnt how to use all of the equipment, how to direct, set up shots and edit the footage to arrive at the finished work. The film was shown to an enthusiastic audience at The Showroom in Lincoln.
